Winter Chess Workshop

Summary: Our annual Winter Retreat is a two day weekend event with chess instruction provided by National Master Ian Harris and a special guest instructor (TBD).  Originally scheduled to take place in person in Norwalk, CT, this event will now be held online and has been renamed to Winter Chess Workshop.  Instruction will include topics such as defense/prophylaxis, advanced endgames, attack and initiative, as well as strategy focusing on piece activity and coordination.  Participants will also submit some of their recent games to be reviewed during the game analysis sessions. 


This workshop is recommended for players rated 1400-2000 USCF.  Players will be divided in groups for instruction and have the opportunity to work with both instructors.  All instruction will be done using Zoom.  Participants will need a free membership in order to participate in the Saturday simultaneous exhibition.  Further instructions regarding logistics will be provided directly to registrants prior to the event.

In order to ensure that each participant receives quality attention there is a maximum limit of 16 participants.  8:1 student/teacher ratio.
