Premium Coaching Plan
All-inclusive coaching for individuals includes all of the following:
Private Instruction
Three 1.5 hour lessons per month. Lessons are scheduled for a regular time and occur in the first three weeks of the month. The fourth week of each month is reserved for make up lessons. Students enrolled in the premium plan receive priority scheduling. Lessons are typically held online using Zoom. Private instruction is available a la carte.
Monthly Group Workshops
One 2 hour workshop per month. Workshops are typically held on the fourth Saturday of each month from 6:00pm - 8:00pm via Zoom. The format for workshops are designed to be as interactive as possible rather than just a lecture format. Limited to players rated 1400+. Available a la carte.
Unlimited analysis of tournament games. Students can submit their games with their own notes to Coach Harris and he will return them with additional analysis and recommendations. This takes place outside of lessons to allow for lessons to focus on improving students' understanding of strategic concepts. Not available a la carte.
Game Analysis
Winter Retreat
Two day weekend event located in Norwalk, CT. This event is included at no additional charge ($500 value). Participants are responsible for their own lodging and travel. Dinner on Saturday night included. Premium Plan students receive priority registration.

Summer Retreat
A week long all-inclusive getaway to the quiet countryside of Vermont for an immersive chess training experience with instruction by NM Ian Harris and a special GM guest instructor. Separate week long adult and youth retreats are planned for June 2021. There is an additional $500 lodging and meal fee per person. Space is extremely limited and priority registration is given to Premium Plan students.
Tournament Coaching
Available at a discounted rate of $200/day for events in CT or Westchester County, NY for up to two days per year. A lodging and travel expenses fee will apply to events outside of this area. Subject to availability.
Premium Plan Registration: $600/month

Participants will be billed on a recurring basis of $600/month on the 1st of each month. Billings can be cancelled at any time. There is no minimum commitment.

Participants who have been members for less than a full year will be charged a pro-rated fee for retreats should they decide to register. For example, if you have been enrolled for six months you would pay $250 (half price) for the winter retreat.

Prospective students may sign up for a trial lesson at the regular rate. Upon registering for the Premium Plan the fee for the trial lesson will be applied to the first month's payment.

Regular private lessons occur during the first three full weeks of each month. Should you need to cancel a lesson, it will automatically be made up during the same time slot on the fourth week. Any cancellations beyond the allotted one lesson per month can also be made up time permitting.

Additional lessons can be purchased at a discounted rate of $100 per 1.5 hour lesson.

Private Instruction

Fee: $100 per hour
Private lessons range in duration based on the needs of the student. Lessons are held online using Zoom during a regular scheduled time. Three 1.5 hour private lessons a month are included in the Premium Plan.

Game Analysis

Game analysis outside of private lessons is a feature available only with the Premium Plan, however, learning from one's mistakes is critical to chess improvement, so important games can still be reviewed during private lessons.

The Winter Retreat is a two day weekend event located in Norwalk, CT. It is planned for January 2021. The fee includes two days of instruction by NM Harris and special guest, as well as dinner on Saturday night. Participants are responsible for their own accommodations. NM Harris will accompany you to a tournament to coach you before and after each round. A lodging and travel expenses fee will apply to events outside of Connecticut or Westchester County, NY. Subject to availability.
Private Group Training
Group training is a highly effective and fun way to improve your chess.
Each group consists of 2 - 4 participants of similar ratings and ages.
Each group meets on a regular schedule. Meetings can range from 1.5 - 2.5 hours each depending on the needs of the group.
These training groups are collaborative and rigorous sessions designed so students will benefit from unique perspectives, as well as, gain motivation for self-improvement.
Participants will work on topics in the curriculum developed by NM Harris that includes avoiding mistakes in the endgame, strategy of piece exchanging, pawn structure, defending and more. Follow up exercises and assignments are provided between each meeting.
Who can participate? Players of any ability may participate. Individuals can join in an existing group or you can form your own group. Working with a group can be a great supplement to private lessons.
Fees: The cost per student for each weekly meeting ranges from $50 to $95. The fee varies depending on the duration of the meeting and the level of the players.

Chess is an excellent way to engage students in a fun game that develops sportsmanship, builds self-esteem and has been shown to increase students' scores in both reading and math! NM Harris also teaches his classes in a way that helps students develop stronger executive functions. Programming is very flexible and can be done during or after-school, in-person or online!

Group classes add a whole new dynamic to chess instruction. If you have a group of friends, co-workers, or fellow chess parents, you can start your own group! Friendly rivalries can be a powerful motivator on the road to chess improvement. Students in these environments will learn not only from NM Harris, but also from each other.

Have a club or venue? Run a tournament! NM Harris is also a US Chess Federation certified tournament director and has directed nearly 600 events! We know how to format, promote and run tournaments. Events can be custom created to suit your organization's specific needs.
Simultaneous Exhibition
Give your club members the rare opportunity to compete head-to-head against a chess Master! NM Harris ranks in the top 99.9th percentile of all chess players in the United States. He is a three time Connecticut State Champion! During a simul, Harris will play multiple games against different opponents who each will play their own individual game against the master.
